Description Urocortin (UCN) is a 40 amino acid peptide which is closely related to corticotropin-releasing hormone and binds with high affinity to both CRH type 1 and type 2 receptors. and it is expressed in human reproductive tissues including endometrium. ovary. and placenta. UCN stimulates cAMP accumulation from cells transfected with these receptors and acts in vitro to release ACTH from rat anterior pituitary cells.Function: Acts in vitro to stimulate the secretion of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH). Binds with high affinity to CRF Receptor types 1. 2-alpha. and 2-beta.Subcellular Location: Secreted protein.Similarity: Belongs to the sauvagine/corticotropin-releasing factor/urotensin I family. Sequence Length (aa): 124 MW: 13458 OMIM: 600945; gene. [ NCBI / EBI] Cross-Reactivity: Human Storage: 4°C for short term (weeks) and -20°C for long term. Stability: 6-12 months at -20°C.
