Description The tumor suppressor protein p53 is a transcription factor that plays a crucial role in coordinating cellular responses to genotoxic stress and holds many important clinical implications in the treatment of cancer. Cayman’s p53 Designer Transcription Factor Assay is designed to study alternate p53 DNA-binding sites. A biotinylated oligonucleotide is incubated with p53 contained in a nuclear extract; this mixture then binds to the streptavidin plate provided in the kit. p53 is detected by addition of a specific primary antibody directed against p53. A secondary antibody conjugated to HRP is added to provide a sensitive colorimetric readout at 450 nm
